The Waka Hauora/Health Bus is the Foundation’s first project. A collaboration with Te Whatu Ora Whanganui, to deliver quality health services to the Greater Whanganui region, including immunisations, health checks, screening programmes, school based health services and more. The Waka Hauora/Health Bus is the perfect size for this, offering a private treatment room, a spacious hospital bed, room to store all the necessary supplies, a vaccine fridge, and a small waiting area.
It takes a VILLAGE
An extraordinary number of people rallied behind Rob and the family to ensure the successful completion of the Health Bus. All are named on the bus itself, and include the Whanganui District Council, Whanganui District Health Board, Display Associates, Michael and Sandra Eden and the team at GDM, the Foundation Board members, the volunteer drivers, the Bartley Group and many local Whanganui small businesses. Thank you, we couldn’t do it without you.
How can you HELP?
To keep the bus moving, maintained, and reaching those who need it, we welcome your donations. You can donate here. We hope to explore options for our next project in the near future. Feel free to join our mailing list here to keep up to date with how the Waka Hauora is helping the community and progression towards future projects.
